Is this my ultimate? My last? The finale? The full stop?
The beauty — or should I say the fickleness — of the mind creates the illusion that changing tracks, climbing steep hills and deadly descents toward new destinations, is always acceptable.
After you retrospect,
sitting in the quiet confines of a silent space,
the pain, the sweat, the tears, the anger, the frustration —
they are now blowin’ in the wind.
“The answer, my friend, is blowin’ in the wind,” said Poet Laureate Bob Dylan, many moons ago.
Writing about fantasy, listening to stories, then submerging into poetic graces — striking ink to parchment in the café of the Dead Poet’s Society — it’s all good. All acceptable.
But have you been there? Done it? Lived it?
From fiction to living fact?
For many, these are but fanciful tales —
told by the fireplace, watching snowflakes through an enormous window.
I too lived through dreams,
just as you. And you. And you.
Until a spark ignited, and I jumped to attention, saluting the stars.
The confusion I write of now,
as I sit on a bench here in Santander, España,
is crystal clear to me.
For you who read these lines — you may turn the page and scoff.
Perhaps another may stop and ponder, for a while.
I stand with Bono when he says:
“I still haven’t found what I’m looking for.”
Perhaps it’s a walk to nowhere.
Perhaps a quest for nothing.
Perhaps a mind game.
Perhaps I simply enjoy the loneliness of the long distance walker.

From a hospitalero at Fuenteroble de Salvatierra to the Camino del Norte from Irun..
That’s what these days were all about — from cold days 2°C to 40°C,
the contrast challenged me..
I did stumble
but yet again
Moved forward..
Moved higher..
Ultreia et Suseia
never STOP walking..
never STOP believing..
…although I may never arrive on foot into that glorious city..
Her name always rings in my ears:
