Completed. Here’s me at the summit of #Aconcagua (6,962 meters or 22,840 feet above sea level) after an intense 13 hours of climbing where we started our climb directly from Camp 2 with no acclimatisation. Due to weather conditions we had to change and complete our entire climb from Base Camp to Summit and back to Base Camp in a shortened 5 days (in Everest it was 21 days and in Manaslu I did it in 10 days – Usually it takes double or even three times for most climbers).

With this summit of Aconcagua, I’m now closer to my goals of being a true Explorer. If summiting an 8,000 meter peak is equivalent to a Masters degree and summiting Everest is a PhD, then the below are the lifetime Emeritus titles offered. So far, below are my membership journey into the various clubs I’ve always wanted to be a part of:

• Completed 2/9th of the Explorers Grand Slam

Yes it is confirmed…..it is going to be 21st May 2018 when Capt Sandeep Mansukhani will be making his  final summit push. It took years of training, hard work and endless sacrifices for him to get there but what matters will be next seven days. Those seven days when he will leave the safe lap of Base camp and head towards a journey amidst death zone predicting any kind of incidental consequences. I have never been scared of anything but yes today I am……..just praying.
Undoubtably weather plays a crucial role on Everest ( the summit of Everest is pummeled year round with jet stream which lifts up only for few days before the onset of monsoon) And weather has been quite unpredictable past few days so the agency was taking various updates from its trusted sources to take final decision.

Today they had oxygen briefing and the masks and regulators are issued. The accompanying Sherpa is announced and good to hear that his Sherpa is Tashi( six time Everest summitter), very experienced climber.

There will be no connectivity for next seven days. Only the updates from agency itself.
His itinerary will be
17/5 @ 0200 hrs BC to camp 2
18/5 rest at camp 2
19/5 @ 0700 hrs camp 2 to camp 3
20/5 @ 0700 hrs camp 3 to camp 4(death zone)
20/5 @ 2100 hrs camp 4 to summit push
21/5 expected summit time around 7:30 to 9 am
21/5 back to camp 4 or camp 3 depending upon physical energy left
22/5 camp 2
23/5 camp 2 to BC

I think all OCs worldwide ought to be made aware of the courage of Sandeep Mansukhani to return to Mr. Everest to climb it, after his escape from his first trip, when Nepal suffered an earthquake, which coincided with his first venture.

Would you please post a worldwide plea for Old Cottonians to make a donation to the very heavy expenses incurred in preparing for this supreme venture of skill and courage.

Time has finally arrived …..
Leaving today afternoon [5th March 2015] for Kathmandu ( Nepal) for the Mt. Everest (8850m/ 29,035) expedition north route.

Keep me in your prayers for my health n safe climb. Subject to the comm link, I will keep updating my position on the mighty Everest through a dispatch, which will be posted by dear Simran (my wife). I have no words to express for the unconditional support of my father and family for letting me go on this amazing climb.  I pray the almighty to give them strength and courage. Aug 24,2014, 0600hrs, I was again standing on the summit of Mt.Stok Kangri (6153m), a beautiful peak which lies in the mesmerizing area of Ladakh, in north west India. I was tired and breathless but the overwhelming views of the Himalayan peaks around specially Mt Kun (7077m) – the peak which I summited in Sept 2013.

The feeling of scaling two 6000m peaks in just 4 days overcame all my fatigue.
A day before on Aug 22, 2014 at 1900 hrs, I summited Mt. Golep Kangri (5980m) – a quite technical and exposed peak located in the Zanskar range of the Western Himalayas, near the Karakoram range. Summiting both the peaks within 4 days and fighting against cold weather and treacherous terrain was definitely affecting my body but my training and my passion for mountaineering was showing its results.

Facing these new challenges will definitely be very helpful when I will go for my dream climb of Mt Everest (8848m) in 2015.Capt Sandeep Mansukhani
